Cookie Policy

Within the scope of its activity, UNICRE - Instituição Financeira de Crédito, S.A. ("UNICRE") collects information about its users on its websites using cookies, with the aim of improving the performance and experience of users, guaranteeing the security and privacy of browsing.

This Cookies Policy clarifies the types of cookies used by UNICRE on its websites. It comprises the principles and guidelines necessary to ensure UNICRE's commitment to guaranteeing the privacy of user data on websites, safeguarding respect for the rights of data subjects obtained through cookies and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements regarding the protection of personal data. This Cookies Policy is aligned with the strategy and the Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files containing information that websites or applications install on the user's browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.) or device (computer, smartphone, tablet) during the time they are browsing the pages of the website or application, storing information about their visit.

These files allow the website to "remember" your actions and preferences for a certain period of time, namely your username, the language you have chosen, the size of the characters and other visualisation settings. By using cookies, UNICRE ensures the proper prevention of any attempt at unauthorised access and the adequate protection of user data, all under the legally required terms.

The use of cookies not only helps the website to recognise the user's device the next time they visit, but is often essential for the website to function correctly.

UNICRE is responsible for the cookies and the respective processing of the data obtained through the cookies used on the websites, deciding on the purpose, content and processing of the data collected. The information collected through cookies used on the websites may be processed by other entities to which UNICRE has assigned such responsibilities.

2. What are the purposes behind the use of cookies?

The cookies used on UNICRE websites do not collect personal information that allows users to be identified, but only retain generic information such as:

  • Form of user access;
  • History of pages visited;
  • Geography of access;
  • User preferences.

However, when accessing your personal space on Homebanking, cookies are associated with the user, allowing UNICRE to track the preferences of its users through the websites.

The cookies used on the websites have the following purposes, among others:

  • Record data from user devices, parameterise and prevent any unauthorised access;
  • Ensuring user privacy on private pages;
  • To collect statistical information to analyse the relevance of pages for users and increase the efficiency of the website;
  • Analysing the effectiveness of advertising and promotional campaigns;
    To store marketing information and user preferences in order to provide you with a better experience at a later date.

UNICRE undertakes to use the information stored through cookies only for the purposes mentioned above.

3. Must the user accept the use of cookies?

For the purposes of Law no. 41/2004, of 18 August, which transposes into national law Directive no. 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 July on the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector, as amended by Law no. 46/2012, of 29 August, the websites only use cookies that are not strictly necessary for UNICRE to provide a service expressly requested by the user, with the user's prior express consent.

The user may refuse or withdraw consent at any time, under the terms better described in point 5 below of this Policy.
Without prejudice, the use of cookies is essential for the correct functioning of the websites as a whole, so their acceptance is recommended.

4. What types of cookies are used?

In general, cookies are used to improve the user's browsing experience, increasing the speed and efficiency of response. Cookies eliminate the need to repeatedly enter the same information and help determine that the advertising messages you see are relevant and match your interests, i.e. the usefulness, interest and number of uses of the website.
